People Die in Arakan Due to Heavy Rain and Flood

Flood in Capital Yagon last Week Due to Heavy Rains.

Around four people died due to heavy rains, landslides and floods in Arakan state on 18th June 2014, according to BBC Burmese News.

On June 18, 2014, due to landslides caused by continuous heavy rains, a 43-year-old mother and her four-year-old son died while they were digging ground in Mrauk-U (Fatthar Killa) Township of Arakan state.

Her (the deceased’s) daughter got injuries and hence, she is now taking treatments in hospital.

On the same day, two women at the village of Punna Gyi in Pauktaw Township died drowning in flooding water.

Meteorologist U Tun Lwin, according to satellite information, said that there would be strong monsoon taking place in lower Myanmar. Therefore, he warned that there would be worrisome heavy rains this week.
