Maungdaw, Arakan (Rohingya Vision) — Myanmar’s police force has brutally tortured an innocent Rohingya arrested over the allegation of connection with so-called Rohingya militants in Bangladesh, according to the reliable sources.

The victim was tortured with vice (vise) so brutally that several ribs on his chests were fractured severely. The victim is identified to be Mohammed Salam hails from Longdoon village, northern Maungdaw Township.

“Mohammed Salam (son of) Nazir, a local of Kuyaar Bil hamlet of Longdoon village tract, is a good man and earns his livelihoods via trading of woods under ‘Myint Brothers Company Ltd.’ Three police officers such as U Aung Than Tun, U Zaw Zaw and U Htin Hlaing from Kyeing Chaung police station arbitrarily arrested him around 6:00PM on November 30 over the allegation of the connection with *RSO.

First, he was detained in the custody of the Border Guard Police in Ngakura also called Nagpura in northern Maungdaw. There, he was inhumanely tortured. He was beaten and his chest was severely pressed with vice (vise or clamp). Consequently, he had several of his ribs fractured” said a elderly Rohingya in northern Maungdaw.

“Yet, the BGP forced him say that other 15 people (in the police’s arrest list) are also linked with *RSO. Then, he was arbitrarily charged under Sections 17/1 and 17/2 of the Penal code that cover the cases of the links with illegal organizations and 13/1 that deals with the illegal border crossing respectively.

Then, he was sent to the Buthidaung prison. In the prison, currently, his condition is said to be critical due to the broken ribs and the lack of medical treatments” he continued.

**RSO= Rohingya Solidarity Organization RSO is a former Rohingya armed group that has been disbanded long ago. Bangladesh government has officially announced that it is no longer existent today. Burma Experts on Minorities’ Armed Groups, Bertil Linter, has denied any such existence of RSO.

Now, Rakhine extremists and Myanmar Government have started to spread propaganda that militants from RSO (Rohingya Solidarity Organization), are infiltrating into Myanmar so as to be able to scapegoat and kill even more innocent Rohingyas to achieve their respective political goals.
