Maungdaw- Myanmar security forces raided in northern Maungdaw, Arakan on 22, June where they arrested four local worshipers from a mosque but released them the next day after harassment, and have been detaining other two, according to our correspondent.

In northern Maungdaw, 64 members of military soldiers and police jointly besieged the mosque situated nearby No. (2), sectarian camp of Border Guard Police (BGP) at night on 22, June. When they entered into the mosque, they found four local Rohingya men in it devoted to Allah for the last ten days of the holy Ramadan.

Without any interrogation, they handcuffed them. Along with the arrestees, they came to Lamba Bill village, where they forcibly penetrated into some houses on the pretext of checking and then looted the money they found there.  Besides, they arrested five innocent people from there.

After that, the forces came to Shashi Prang village of the same area and arbitrarily arrested a few Rohingya men, altogether eleven people and took them to the camp informing that the villagers or the relatives would meet the military and police in the camps with the family censuses of the arrestees.

A local elderly said, “When we went there with the censuses in early morning, military released them but asked the victims to meet them again after 8 am today. Its means they must be compelled to give money as much as the military demands.”

At night, military and police verbally abused and threatened them doing racial and religious discrimination, said one of the arrestees.

In another incident on the day, BGP from No. (1) Sector arrested two locals going to work from Htoun Chaung, Hlain Thi Village Track on the accusation of using Bangladeshi SIM cards and have been detaining them, according to our correspondent.

The victims are Mohammad Hussein, son of Mohammad Ali, 22 from Htoun Chaung village and Murshed Ahmad, son of Kobir Ahmad from the west of Tanhali village of the same village tract.

Myanmar security forces have been raiding and plundering the Rohingya villages across northern Arakan since October, 2016 and arresting innocent people arbitrarily. Of them, some are jailed without giving chance of hiring lawyers and some are killed in the detention centers.

Maungdaw: Military raided in many villages of Maugdaw, where they looted many goods including food and household goods on 18th June 2017, complains a suffering local.

In the incidence in Ludaing, military from battalion 352 raided the entire village at 8:00 AM. In the raid they stationed on a road, checking and looting from local Rohingyas like fishermen and farmers. Moreover they even looted household goods and food like fish, vegetables and fruits, leaving villagers in extreme fear.

In another incidence of raid in Zadifara hamlet of Hatifara village, military arrived and tortured the Rickshaw drivers inhumanly, ceasing their daily livelihood.  Earlier that incidence military looted batteries from local Rohingyas with fake excuse of charging their own cell phones.

Military raids and looting have become a daily routine for the Rohingyas, whom are living in extreme inhuman situations, increasing fear day by day.

Maungdaw: Maughs have dug a hugepit in the temple area, creating conspiracy against Rohingyas and military destroyed Rohingya Houses in Maungdaw on 15th June 2017, complains suffering locals.

In the incidence in Umala (Maugh) village in Shwe Zar village of Maungdaw, Maugh villages dug a huge pit in the temple area and did finishing like an underground tunnel. The pit is equivalent as big as to accommodate the entire villagers.

Moreover they used maugh labour to create the pit, which they usually force Rohingyas in these types of harsh laboring.

In sequences of such incidents Rohingyas fear of further torture along with big conspiracy, that seems very clear now says an eye witness. “This is not the first incidence of digging such a huge pit in Maugh villages, earlier similar incidence were heard in other villages too” added local Rohingyas.

In another incidence on the same day in Godusara village in Maungdaw, military raided and destroyed Rohingya homes, along with looting household properties.

Acceleration of military raids in the region and Maughs conspiracy against Rohingyas have made Rohingyas lives intolerable in their ongoing inhuman lives in the hands of so called Aung San Suu kyi’s democratic government.

Buthidaung- Police from Buthidaung town, Arakan state apprehended a local Rohingya who provided the poor with humanitarian aids in the moth of holy Ramadan and extorted a lot of money after torturing him physically in their custody, according to our correspondent.

The aids provider is identified as Nurul Amin, S/o Mamad, 30, a collegian of distance University and medicine seller who hails from Ward No. (1), Buthidaung Town.

Due to the recent military crackdown, extortion of money and plundering Rohingya houses in Arakan, most of the Rohingyas are facing food crisis severely and some hardly afford to feed their families once a day. For the purpose of helping to some people among them in the holy month, the only brother of Nurul Amin living in abroad sent a small fund.

Nurul Amin happily accepted it and bought some commodities like cooking oil, onion, chick pea, etc. and distributed them among the local poor as many as he could afford with the given budget.

Getting report about his donation, the on-duty police in the town arrested him on 13th June, alleging that why he did so without providing the police anything. The police had been keeping him in detention for about a day where they tortured him physically. On the next day on 14th June, the police released him after extorting fifteen hundred thousand kyats.

A Rohingya intellectual said, “What a sorrowful case it is! Myanmar government arrests and tortures the humanitarian aids provider instead of taking care of the public. Besides, they don’t allow the international humanitarian workers. The world hasn’t realized the cruelty of Myanmar government yet. And I don’t know when the world will wake up from sleep.”

As the rich countries are still donating the Suu Kyi led NLD Government instead of pressurizing her government strictly, it never stops the discrimination, brutality and violence that amount to Rohingya genocide.

A United Nations human rights expert today urged the Government of Myanmar to do more to protect children in the country, citing cases of detention and alleged incidents of child labour and marriage.

“I stand ready to assist in any way I can to achieve a Myanmar where the rights and fundamental freedoms of all are respected and fully realized,” said the Special Rapporteur on human rights in Myanmar, Yanghee Lee, in her remarks to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

She reminded the Government that this obligation extended to all children within its jurisdiction, including all those from the Rohingya minority living in Rakhine state.

She expressed concern that at least 13 children were being held by police in Rakhine, stressing that detention should be strictly “a last resort.”

She also called for an immediate Government investigation into the death in custody of one of the 13, to fully probe the circumstances including why the death was not reported for four months.

Ms. Lee also expressed concern about the situation of Rohingya children who have fled Myanmar, especially the reported recent rise in the number of child brides among women and girls now living in neighbouring countries.

Maungdaw- Myanmar Security forces’ nonstop raids against Rohingyas across Maungadw district have become daily occurrences that make them helpless, foodless and force them to flee the ancestral land to become refugees, a Rohingya activist reported.

Myanmar security forces including police, Border Guard Police (BGP), Military and Immigration officers have been carrying on the raids against the Rohingyas in Buthidaung and Maungdaw since October 2016. During the raids, they arrest the men whomever they find in the houses or villages, molest the women and plunder the houses.

Now, the security forces are repeatedly besieging Sein Hnyin Pyar (locally Sindi Prang) under Buthidaung where they are arresting innocent Rohingya men discriminately and arbitrarily, molesting the women and looting their homes.

“If the forces can arrest any man, he is not jailed now but compelled to give them a huge amount of money which is beyond his capability. As he has to give the money selling his belongings, family has to face starvation as no help is expected from others because of the same condition.

“That’s why, others have been taking shelter in the mountains or other areas to avoid the arbitrary arrest as well as torture and families are facing shortages of daily necessities for the lack of income. This unfavorable and vicious condition forces them to flee the country,” said a Rohingya elder helplessly and disappointedly.

On 14 June, Wednesday evening, a large number of military, nearly 400, unexpectedly came and surrounded the Lee Da village, Aung Saik Prang village track, in the north of Muangdaw. Then, some military solders along with BGP and immigration officers entered into the houses on the pretext of checking. The raid had been going on for about four hours in which they looted whatever the found, even new and valuable clothes.

Dropping tears, a poor local said, “the Burmese forces found no fault but they maltreated us. They looted everything from our homes and they left nothing for us to eat and wear. Where can we go now? What can we do? The world is blind to the reality of the situation but absorbed in the biggest liar Suu Kyi’s eloquence. The rich countries are donating her dollars to vanish us on the pretext of ensuring Rohingys’ rights”

Myanmar security forces blockade any Rohingya village in Arakan and raid it at any time. Though they don’t find any fault, they try their best to destabilize the Rohingyas to leave their villages so that government can seize them to settle Buddhists calling from Bangladesh which is an open secret now.

12th June, 2017

Buthidaung– Local authorities across Buthidaung Township, Arakan state have been increasingly and discriminately torturing the Rohingyas, extorting money from them and arresting them arbitrarily where many arrestees are unlawfully jailed without any trial since October 9, 2017, the locals reported.

Some Border Guard Police (BGP) from Sector (9), Taung Bazar Camp arbitrarily arrested 5 innocent Rohingya men- educated youths and religious teachers- hailing from Maung Gyi Taung on 1st June and have been torturing them in their lock-up on suspicion of having connection with the armed group. The arrestees are:

  1. Amir Hakim, 55 years
  2. Abdu Rahim, S/o Amir Hakim, 34 ( a religious scholar)
  3. Abdu Monnan, S/o Amir Hakim, 30
  4. Sammia, S/o ——-, 42, and
  5. Nurmamad, S/o ———-, 40

On 31st May, BGP from Nyaung Chaung Camp suspiciously arrested Islam, S/o Gonu Mia, 40, who hails from Sein Hnyin Pyar and have been detaining him incommunicado. On the same day, police form Buthidaung Town arrested Haji Islam, S/o Ali Ahmed, 42, from Ward No. (1) who owns a shop in the town-market.  On 1st June, police put up a case before the court of law and have been holding him on remand, said a neighbor in the condition of anonymity.

Once, the village-tract administrator U Maung Gyi from Hpa Yar Pyin Aung Pa along with his informer summoned Mohammad Toyub, S/o Mohammad Siddique, 40, to the office and forcibly demanded five hundred thousand kyats saying that he was getting money from abroad. As he refused to fulfill their demand, the administrator called BGP from Nyaung Chaung to detain him. After a day, Siddique, who is a motorcycle carrier, was released by being extorted four hundred thousand kyats, according to a local.

Moreover, the administrator extorted one hundred thousand kyats from Mohammad Zubair, S/o Saaf Mia, 38, who was repairing the house destroyed by Cyclone Mora. Later, the informer begged fifty thousand kyats on 5th May although the administrator took money for repairing. As Zubair didn’t give him money, he called BGP who destroyed the house completely as they couldn’t catch him. Since then, the house owner has been fleeing to avoid the detention of BGP.

The locals said, “The local authorities’ unlimited oppressions and suppressions, money extortions, arbitrary arrests, kills and imprisonments make us hopeless, foodless and homeless. Sometimes some Rohingyas face premature deaths. The hostile situation compels us to flee the country but we find nowhere to be safe.

“Verbal criticism and compulsion of international leaders and UN are unfruitful and they haven’t taken any practical action against Myanmar yet for which it doesn’t pay heed to anyone or anything.”
