Maungdaw: Torching down of Rohingya villages continued even after General Min Aung Hlaing visited Arakan, where he addressed Rohingyas will be safe from further military atrocities in a meeting held with Rohingyas in Maungdaw on, 20th September 2017.

On his arrival, he visited Taungbazar and Moghs from 552 Battalion in Buthidaung Township, where he held talks with them. Later he visited Maungdaw and held a meeting with authorities and Rohingya villagers.

Further in the meeting, Rohingyas disclosed their fear to him about the ongoing torching of villages and other military atrocities. Talking about those fears, he replied that all those genocidal activities will be halted immediately and assured Rohingyas with his fake promise.

Immediately after his departure from Arakan (Rakhine) Moghs started to burn down Rohingya’s houses in quarter 5 of Maungdaw at 07:00 pm under military security.

On the same day immigration Ministry also visited Maungdaw, where he again stressed Rohingyas to take illogical NVC (National Verification Card), instead of solving this ongoing catastrophe. Earlier, NVC (National Verification Card) was rejected by Rohingyas as it’s a tactic of the Burmese junta and so called democratic government to permanently deprive Rohingyas from their citizenship right in their own ancestral land.

After evacuating Rohinvgyas from Maungdaw, Rathedaung and partially Buthidaung, new sparks of unrest can be smelled in other Rohingya township like Akyab (Sitwwe), Minbya, etc. Moghs in Minbya started to make fake videos of Rohingya to instigate the Moghs (Rakhine) residents to ignite another wave of attack on innocent Rohingya civilians. From such attempts Rohingya fear are escalating day by day in all over Arakan.
