Thousands Demonstrate in UK to End Atrocities against Muslims in Burma

(Rohingya Vision) — Thousands of people held demonstrations in front of Birmingham city hall to end the persecutions and atrocities against the Rohingya and other Muslims in Burma last Monday.

Many local MPs and the Mayor of Birmingham also took part in the demonstrations. The demonstrations were organized by Summera Farrukh, the president of the women wing of UK based organization known as OPS.

Ms. Summera, who is also head of the Binatul Muslimeen UK, after the demonstrations, wrote to RVision mentioning about the demonstration as follows.

“Great to see thousands of Brummies coming out today to show solidarity with the Rohingya people who are being systematically slaughtered whilst the world is watching inc Councillor Habib Rehman Walayat, Haider M Zohaib Numberdar, Mohammed Ashraf Shafaq, Shaaky Ahmed, Cllr Uzma Ahmed, Rizwan Ali, Abu Alamgir, Basharat Da,d Zafar Iqbal, Mbe Majid Hussain, Imran Qayum, Naveed Mahmood, Mohammed Ali, Mohammed Khalid and many more.

Massive thanks to you to Councilor Mohammed Aikhlaq, Sumaira Farrukh, Waseem Zaffar, Raja Amjed Khan, Fahim Kayani, Suhaib Saqib, Qamar Abbas and all others involved in the organization of the demonstration. Not easy organizing such events so well done to all of them, and I pray that Allah rewards then for their hard work.

I spoke of the need for all of us to write to our MPs to pledge their support to prevent the persecution of the Rohingya by signing the motion tabled by the newly elected Imran Hussain MP for Bradford East. Only 30 MPs have so far signed the motion which is disgraceful.

We need to go further and request that UN peacekeepers are sent to Myanmar, sanctions imposed on the Myanmar junta, and the revocation of the Nobel Peace prize that the so called democratic leader Aung San Suu Kyi was awarded for remaining silent during the massacre.

It is heartbreaking to witness the slaughter daily on TV, and i urge all of you to write/email your MPs so that they can call for immediate action to protect the Rohingya.

Please keep all the innocent people across the world from Kashmir, Palestine, Iraq, and Syria to Myanmar in your prayers InshaAllah.”
