Maungdaw, Arakan– Security Force (Hlun Htein) at the Bazaar of Baggona village, southern Maungdaw, are harrassing and looting Rohingya passers-by on daily basis.
“Rakhines from the villages of Kanthayar and Bodigoon of Baggona village tract have applied to the Maungdaw District Administration to provide security for Rakhines saying that they had to fear of Rohingyas and were unable to go to the Bazaar of the village. Therefore, a sub-battalion of (Hlun Htein) Security Force was encamped by the village administration office. It is under Major Aye Ngwe of the battalion of Hlun Htein at the village of Mag-Gyi Chaung (Faatonza) (the Region 7 Camp of disbanded NaSaKa).
Now, the security force started to loot Rohingya passers-by, shopkeepers, vegetable and fish sellers etc. If people refuse to give them money, fish or vegetables etc, they (the security force) beat and harrass them. It has become unbearable now. We would like to request the government of Myanmar to take action against these security forces and their atrocities” said a victim recently beaten and looted by the security force.
