NAYAFARA: Registered refugees in Nayafara (Mosoni) Refugee Camp face extreme shortage of ration under WFP food distribution program, according to a suffering local.
Due to intolerable situation Refugees in the Camp informed the administrative body of WFP, where they were replied that “we are ordered by WFP to give ration up to minimum for survival” and “each individual can only receive 14 kg of rice” said a corrupted administrative worker from WFP office.
In the ration distribution process each refugee were given 650 to 700 taka/month to buy goods and were promised to sold goods with the market price of the local area. But in reality they are sold at higher price, for example rice/kg are sold at 25 taka at local market where refugees are given at 33 taka/kg.
650-700 Taka/month for an individual is a very little amount to survive for the whole month, where more than half of the amount goes on buying rice alone.
Corruption and ignorance by Bangladeshi officials on registered Rohingya refugee camps are common, where Persecuted Rohingyas are further more tortured even in shelters on daily basis.
