Cox’s Bazaar: A few Bangladeshi locals working as volunteer along with area supervisor in a refugee camp tortured a Rohingya severely, to rob all his belongings on 5th June 2018.
A set of Bangladeshi local youths from the area targeted an innocent Rohingya youth sheltering at Lambashiya camp. The victim was returning from his usual work to shelter.
He was stopped on his way back and was tortured severely. Then, they snatched all his belongings and robbed 4500 Taka from his pocket.
That notorious group, even after snatching his all goods, tore his sarong and shirt as well. From the robbed items, main was 25 kg of rice.
“I was taking this rice for my family, residing in the shelter. They (robbers) unnecessary interrogated me and accused me of illegally getting the rice. Then, they snatched all the money I had,” explains the victim in an interview.
Rohingya in that area are usually harassed by the Bangladeshi locals along with area supervisor from camp no. 3. This gang harasses and robes the sheltering Rohingya on daily basis.
More than 800, 000 Rohingya are sheltering in makeshift camps of Cox’s Bazaar district in Bangladesh, since they fled genocidal attack in Arakan (Rakhine), Burma.
