Akyab: A Rohingya woman named Rizwana,25, D/O Yakub and Zawbidah was raped and tortured inhumanely by military who ultimately died without uttering the name of culprit in clinic on 17th August 2016.
On 16th August she was kidnapped by military from Thet Kay Pyin village, on her way from La Ma Shay village, where she was found abandoned near military camp in injured and critical condition on 17th August.
Later a military from the cantonment called village head of That Kay Pyin to collect the body from abandoned situation and take her to the village.
As she was senseless, she was taken to the local clinic of the same village. During the treatment she unfortunately passed away in a short time at 8:30 pm. Her dead body will be taken to Sittwe General hospital for postmortem on 19th August.
Today it was known that instead of postmortem police asked village head to search for her relatives. Later Village head got a aunt of Rizwana, where police handed over the dead body.Following the horrific situation relatives along with local villagers buried her in the graveyard of La Tha Ma village at 2:30 pm on Friday 19th August.
But no case has been filed yet against the brutal military as Rizwana died before giving any statement to the locals.
Victimized Rizwana was an orphan whose father died in 2012 violence, where her mother and brother had to flee to save life in the violence leaving her in lonely , helpless and horrific situation.
Since the military rule, rapes on helpless Rohingya women have been a rooted genocidal tool which are carried on daily basis by government authorities like BGP, police and military.
Brutal death of Rizwana is again a reminder to persecuted Rohingyas and the international community as how many rapes and murders will be committed in future in Arakan is unknown yet.
