Rakhine Terrorists Burnt Down Five Muslim-Owned Fishing Boats in Thandwe, Left Another Boat and A House Vandalized

Thandwe, Arakan– Between 11PM and 12PM last night (on 13th Aug 2013 night), some 969 inspired Rakhine terrorists burnt down five fishing boats owned by Muslims in Thandwe township, Arakan state. Besides, they vandalized one more fishing boat and a Muslim house.

At around 11PM last night, two boats loaded with 969 inspired Rakhine terrorists from the village of Sin-Gaung attacked five fishing boats owned by Muslims at the village of Myo-Taung. (Myo-Taung is a village where mostly Muslim fihermen live.) They came along the sea coast to attack Muslims. The terrorists armed with spears, swords, daggers, catapult with marble pellets attacked the fishermen guarding the boats.

When the fishermen fled, they burnt down five boats. Later, they destroyed one more boat and a house. Two of the boats and the house were owned by a local Muslim of Thandwe, U Mya Win. Altogether, Rakhine terrorists damaged the properties of Muslims at least worth Myanmar Kyat 50 Million” a local Muslim reported.

He continued saying “though Muslims sought the help of the authority to protect them from the attacks, no one came up to help Muslims. No actions have been taken against the terrorists yet.”

Most of the Muslims in Thandwe Township are of ethnic Kaman community. They are also the victims of frequent attacks by Rakhine terrorists.
