Rakhine State CM and Abbot of Sitagu Organize Fake Relief Distribution for Rohingya Victims

By Rohingya Mirror

Maungdaw, Arakan State (Rohingya Vision) – The Rakhine state chief minister, ex-Maj-Gen Maung Maung Ohn, and Sitagu Sayadaw organized a fake relief distribution program for Rohingya flood victims in Maungdaw Township today.

The chief minister (CM) and Sitagu Sayadaw Dr. Nyanissara, the venerable abbot of the Sitagu monastery, arrived in Maungdaw this morning. Afterwards, they visited Myo Thu Gyi (Haainda Fara) village and held a meeting with the Islamic Religious Scholars and some flood-hit victims of the village.

“In the meeting, CM said that the relief aids stored in the village’s school are meant to distribute to the victims. But they called up only five religious out of the attendees to the room of the school where the rations are stored. They (i.e. the CM and the abbot) made them shake hands with the monks attending the meeting and placed them opposite to one another.

And then, they handed 5-kg sac of rice to each of the five Rohingya scholars,” said a flood-victim that attended the meeting.

“They have shot videos of each and every happening in the meeting. They have shot videos and taken photographs as they were handing 25-Kg of rice to the five people.

Afterwards, they concluded the meeting around 1:15PM of the day,” he added.

As the meeting was over, they put the Reliefs — 300 ‘50kg-rice bags,’ Family Kits, bottles of mineral water, noodles, biscuits, polythene sheets and cooking pots – on the trucks and carried back to the warehouse of the relief center in Myoma Kayintan (Shidda Fara) village.

“The reliefs were taken back without being distributed to the desperate flood hit victims. It was a fake relief distribution program organized to show to the international community” said another witness.

Later, the Sitagu Sayadaw and his group of monks visited Maungdaw General Hospital and distributed Kyat 10,000 each to the nurses, the workers-helpers, some patients and the security forces etc.

[Note: The nurses, the workers-helpers, some patients and the security forces at the hospital belong to Rakhine and Bama people. Cashes were distributed only to the Rakhine section of the patients in the hospital.]

The locals suspect if the venerable abbot of Sitagu has become a tool in the hands of the Myanmar pseudo civilian regime for its political purpose, just like his counterpart Ashin Wirathu labeled as ‘the Face of the Buddhist Terror’ by the TIME Magazine.
