Myanmar’s Military Extremely Persecute Innocent Rohingya People

The Myanmar military has started to extremely persecute the innocent Rohingya people in Maungdaw Township, say the locals.
The military, in different parts of the township, torture and detain the innocent people for arbitrary reasons. They loot their shops and properties such as livestock and fish.
“There is a military patrol team encamped at the BGP (Border Guard Police) camp in Ywet Nyo Taung village, northern Maungdaw. As they were patrolling from Myau Taung village to Pwin Phyu Chaung (known as Zam Monnya) village around 7AM on Friday, a Rohingya farmer stumbled upon them on the way to his betel farm. Then, they started to severely beat him up with their guns. So, he got severe injuries in his head and started bleeding. The victim is known as the 38-year-old Mohammed Sayed (son of) Sayed Hussein hails from Majan Toli hamlet of Pwin Phyu Chaung village.
Similarly, they beat up another innocent Rohingya on their way. He is Saleh Ahmed (son of) Noor Alam, age 24, hails from the same Pwin Phyu Chaung village. Therefore, he got injuries in his leg and started bleeding from his ear.
Besides, they looted the shop belongs to Mohammed Alam (son of) Noor Alam, age 38. They took away Biscuits, Breads, Mineral Water and Cigarette by force. They also seized livestock such as goats and chickens found on their way.
On the same day, BGP Commander in Twet Nyo Taung and the Military Patrol Team in-charge summoned the villagers for a meeting at the village’s school. In the meeting, they said to the villagers that they would treat the Rohingya villagers like animals because there are goons in the village” said an elderly Rohingya on the condition of anonymity.
The same military team beat up ad detained an innocent youth on a patrol in Phawek Chaung (Faw Khali) village and Thay Chaung (Baalu Khali) village around 9AM on October 22.
“A 21-year-old Rohingya youth named Abdu Shukkor (son of) Abdul Malik, was sitting on a shop bench in Thay Chaung village. When he saw the military, he tried to run away in fear of persecution.
The military chased and caught him. They beat him up in gang. Blood began to spill from his body. Yet, they didn’t release him and allow him to go to clinic for treatment. They dragged him away and detained him in the BGP camp in Ywet Nyo Taung village. He has not been released yet” recounted an eyewitness.
Meanwhile, the military base at the Bangladesh Buddhist Monastery in Myoma Kayintan (also called Shidda Fara), Maungdaw Township also torture and loot Rohingya passers-by.
“They loot Rohingya sole traders coming from southern Maungdaw and confiscate their food commodities such as fish and vegetables. When the military do not get what they want to ther hearts’ content, they beat the Rohingya traders.
They confiscate Rohingyas’ properties like this and ask a Rakhine man that lives in the monastery to sell in the bazaar.
On October 12, two goats belong to U Noor Hussein (son of) U Auli Hussein, a local of Myoma Kayintan, were grazing before the monastery. The military confiscated both goats, slaughtered and ate them up. Each goat was worth Kyat 30,000 and hence, two worth Kyat 60,000.
Similarly, the military slaughtered and ate up a goat belonged to U Shomshu hails from Myoma Kayintan on October 14 This goat was worth Kyat 40,000” said a villager requesting to withhold his identity.
The military has also been notorious for raping Rohingya women and other minorities’ women in Myanmar as a weapon and war-psyche.
