Mrauk-U (Fatthar Killa)– Military Lieutenant of the battalion 378 has been arbitrarily arresting and torturing Rohingyas in four villages in Maruk-U township, Arakan state. As a result, people are unable to go out of their homes and go to their work for the fear of getting arrested.
“Military Battalion No. 378 is incharge of the security of four Rohingya villages in Mrauk-U (Fatthar Killa, Mro Haung) township. The four Rohingya villages are Kaing Taw, Shan Taung, Kun Baung and Si Thay. The incharge of the battalion is a lieutenant and his phone number is 00959250610402.
For past 15 days, he has been arresting and torturing Rohingyas in the above mentioned villages for no reasons. The villagers are unable to go out of their homes for the fear of getting tortured by him. So, the villagers, most of whom are fishermen, are unable to go for fishing. Consequently, many are facing difficulties for their survival” said a local of Mrauk-U.
“Therefore, we request to the government of Myanmar and other concerned quarters to take action against the brutalities by the officer” he added.
