Breaking: Military Launch Fresh Assaults on Rohingya in Rathedaung

Rathedaung — The Burmese troops have launched assaults on the Rohingya villages in Rathedaung Township since 10 PM last night, a local source reports. 

It has been reported the military launched the fresh assaults on ‘Koe Tan Kauk and Chin Kali’ villages because the people in the villages met the UN Delegation and held protests holding banners on Thursday.

Several truck loads of military personnel arrived at the villages around 10 PM last night and besieged the villages since then.

Of them, around 50 soldiers troops in each village conducting raids and are arbitrarily arresting young Rohingya civilians especially young men in Koe Tan Kauk.

“We have been besieged and can’t move anywhere. The situation is vulnerable. We are really afraid now because of a sudden military assault”, said a local in a conversation via telephone.

A Border Guard Police post in ‘Koe Tan Kauk’ village was attacked by some unidentified assailants on October 9.

2) 5/11/16 8:20 AM: The Burmese army have now besieged 70 Rohingya men at a place in KoeTanKauk of Rathedaung. Their fate is unknown.

3) 5/11/16 8:30 AM: Burmese army arbitrarily arrested a local Rohingya Islamic teacher, Abul Kasim (s/o) Abdul Aziz, 47, at KoeTanKauk village around 6AM. He was severely tortured & then, has been taken to unknown location.

4) 5/11/16 9:30AM: The Burmese Army raiding house by house and checking household members. One religious teacher was arrested, young men are fleeing in fear of the arbitrary arrests.

5) 5/11/16 12 Noon: The Burmese Army arrested 350 Rohingya men (anyone above age 10) in KoeTanKauk and gathered them at mosque of the village.

They are being tortured. Whether they would be detained or freed later is unknown yet.

6) 5/11/16 12:30 PM: Arrest and torture list at KoeTanKauk increased to about 1000 Rohingya men. Anyone below 60 years old including children is being arrested.

7) 5/11/16 12:30 PM: Some Burmese troops were spotted carrying gallons of patrol. They haven’t torched any Rohingya home at KoeTanKauk yet but plundered many.

8) 5/11/16 2 PM: Having arbitrarily arrested around 1000 Rohingya men between 10 & 60 at KoeTanKauk, Burmese Army ordered the women and the children to their leave homes.

9) 5/11/16 2:50 PM: Four Rohingya men were brutally tortured at KoeTanKauk and are now in critical condition. Two of them have been identified to be Mohd Sayed & Shonu.

The remaining 1000 men are being tortured.

11) 5/11/16 3:30 PM: 2 Rohingya religious teachers, Halim s/o Mohd Shafi & Rahmatullah, have been severely tortured by Burmese army in KoeTanKauk since this morning.

Mv Halim is struggling to survive now and the Mv Rahmatullah is also in a critical condition.

12) 5/11/16 3:57 PM: Burmese troops are now driving out all the Rohingya population including women and children from ‘MunChiGuna’ & ‘Fook Fara’ hamlets to ‘Bor Fara’ hamlet of KoeTanKauk village tracts.

17) 5/11/16 8 PM: Burmse army still have still besieged more than 1000 Rohingya men at KoeTanKauk. They arrested even more men by threatening to torch the village.

They severely tortured many Rohingya people, especially those youths that worked as interpreters to the UN Delegation.

These brutally tortured youths are reportedly taking their last breathes now.
