Friday, May 30, 2014

Maungdaw, Arakan state- Maungdaw Police arrested Mv. Yaasin, an innocent man, in southern Maungdaw on 26th May 2014 under arbitrary accusation of having connections with militants in Bangladesh. They are now playing brutal game with the life of the innocent man.

“Mv Yaasin (son of) Abdul Hakim (of Age 28) is a local of the village of U-Daung under Region (Nay Myay) 8 in southern Maungdaw. Around 10:00AM on 26th May 2014, a group of 24 Police Personnel [combined from Maungdaw Police Station, Maura Waddi Police Station, SB (Special Branch) Police from Alay Than Kyaw Station and Border Security Police from Camp 8 under Region 8] raided his (Mv Yaasin’s) home in order to arrest him under an arbitrary accusation of having connection with the gang of the gang of robbers led by Abdul Hakim. (For more about the Gang, please click HERE) They didn’t find him out at his home.

However, at 10:50AM of the day, having arrested him in another house with the cooperation of U-Daung administrator, Maung Myint Aung, who is a Rakhine, the police immediately transferred him to the station of Special Branch Police in Alay Than Kyaw (Haishshurata). He was there brutally beaten until 4PM of the evening. Then, he was taken to the administration office of U-Daung village. After a while, his younger brother, Mohammed Faisal, went to see Mv Yaasin, at the administration office. The police arrested him, too, for no reason and sent him to the Camp 8 of Border Security Police under Region 8. And then, Mv Yaasin was transferred to Maungdaw Police Station.

As soon as Police brought him to Maungdaw, they took him to the “Shay Thou” Photography Shop. The police photographed him hanging two Pistols in his waist. Then, the police accused him of being a *RSO member and detained him in their custody.

But after having extorted Kyat 1 Million, Police released Mohammed Faisal, the younger brother of Mv Yaasin, on 27th May 2014 evening” said a local Rohingya in Maungdaw.

As we all can see, the case against Mv Yaasin is forged and hence, he is an innocent man. He was first arbitrarily accused to have connection with robbers and then, with RSO. Such accusation may even give police authority to kill him. They are playing with the life of an innocent man” he added.

*RSO= Rohingya Solidarity Organization RSO is a former Rohingya armed group that has been disbanded long ago. Bangladesh government has officially announced that it is no longer existent today. Now, Rakhine extremists and Myanmar Government have started to spread propaganda that RSO (Rohingya Solidarity Organization), is attacking Myanmar Border Guards and trying to invade Myanmar so as to be able to kill even more innocent Rohingyas.
