Innocent Rohingya Arbitrarily Sent to Buthidaung Prison

Buthidaung, Arakan State (Rohingya Vision) — Myanmar’s authorities arbitrarily sent an innocent Rohingya man to Buthidaung Prison last Friday.
The victim is identified to be Mohammed Hussein Bodi Alam, 45, hails from ‘Pharun Chaung Praing Taung’ hamlet of ‘Pharun Chaung’ village tract, Buthidaung Township. He runs a small grocery store in the village.
The authorities consist of Border Guard Police (BGP); U Maung Than Htay, the administrator of ‘Pharun Chaung’ village; and Salimullah Eman Hussein, the henchman of the administrator, altogether plotted and arrested Mr, Mohammed Hussein on June 23 on the arbitrary allegation of creating public nuisance.
And he was detained in the BGP station in Nyaung Chaung village, where he was inhumanely the whole night. The next day, on Friday, he was transferred to Buthidaung Prison. Now, they are plotting to charge the innocent man with creating public nuisances.
“Salimullah, the henchman of the administrator Maung Than Htay, demanded Kyat 100,000 ransom from Mohammed Hussein two months ago for his master (the administrator). Salimullah beat Mr. Hussein for his refusal to give the ransom.
Therefore,Hussein lodged a police complaint and the Buthidaung police took action against Salimullah. Therefore, Salimullah and his masters have plotted against Hussein in revenge,” said a villager of ‘Pharun Chaung’ on the condition of anonymity.
