Hard Evidences of Gang Rape and Extrajudicial Killings in Arakan

Burmese (Myanmar) Government appointed commission has investigated the recent violence in which Burmese security forces committed systematic killings, gang rapes, arson and other human rights abuses against Rohingya people in northern Arakan (Rakhine). It organized a press conference on 6th August 2017 to freshen up the brutal and inhumane military.

In the press conference, the commission tactfully narrated the reports of horrific abuses as fabricated ones as well as the tales created by the local Rohingyas and then, denied the OHCHR reports based on interviews done with 204 witnesses from more than 75000 Rohingyas who were forced to flee to neighbouring country Bangladesh.

Continually, commission member U Aung Kyi said “If OHCHR waited for our report of today, their one would be helpful or favorable to us. Unfortunately the report was issued in haste and it enlarged the problem rather than solving it”.

According to the local news agencies, the head of the commission and Myanmar Vice President Myint Swe said, “There is no evidence of crimes against humanity or ethnic cleansing while presenting the result of his government’s investigation.”

Rohingya Vision’s reports and evidences gathered from the locals, rape victims, eye-witnesses’ claims and reports of international bodies totally engulf the Myanmar Vice President’s reports of denying genocide against Rohingya.

Thus, Rohingya Vision strongly condemns and opposes the government-appointed commission report exuding fresh evidences below.

Denial of Myanmar govt and Existing Evidences of Genocide

  1. Gang Rape & Mass killing

In reply to the question of gang rape, Mass killing and molestation against the Rohingyas, commission member U Aung Kyi said “Let alone people living in Myanmar, even the persons who know about Myanmar well will not believe exaggerated accusations such as the act of molesting, gang raping, kicking the belly of a pregnant woman, or killing parents right in front of their children. But we have never turned a blind eye to the matter. We are looking into the matter carefully”

A mass grave was found on 18th February 2017, whom were earlier killed by military. 1. Destruction of properties and religious persecution

Later, when asked about the burning of houses and destructions of religious structures, commission member Dr Tha Nyan replied “There were Arabic religious schools. Maungdaw region alone had 1278 Mosques and 1657 Moulvi, 17 Hindu temples, seven churches, and 121 monasteries. These figures prove that there is no religious persecution and racial discrimination”

Here is a point to be noted that government along with Buddhist people increases schools, hospitals and Buddhists temple as the population increases but Rohingya Muslims cannot. Why?

As there is restriction on Muslims, Rohingya cannot increase religious structures. So, the structures destroyed are among the listed ones of the government.

Destruction of houses

Military burned down this house in Northern Maungdaw, where entire family was also killed in the fire in late October, 2016.

In another question on such abuses, U Aung Kyi also added that “They tried to concoct a make-up story of existence of genocide or racial cleansing in Rakhine State using the media.” In this quotation he tried to blame media spreading fake news. In fact all the media related to Rohingya try to reveal atrocities committed by Burmese Authorities accurate and exactly. All the evidences provided here prove that Rohingya media are true to their responsibilities.

After such bias statements from the Burmese government, deputy Asia director at Human Rights Watch Phil Robertson said “The commission’s findings are just the latest attempt to sweep under the rug the massive abuses against the Rohingya last year,” and “These atrocities aren’t going to disappear, so the sooner the UN fact-finding mission is allowed into Burma, the sooner those responsible can be identified and redress provided to the victims.”

In March, the UN Human Rights Council passed a resolution establishing an independent international fact-finding mission with a mandate to investigate allegations of recent human rights abuses in Burma, especially in Arakan (Rakhine) State.

Following that the Burmese government has indicated it will deny visas to the three experts appointed to the fact-finding mission. Kyaw Tin, the deputy minister of foreign affairs, told parliament on June 30, “We will order Myanmar embassies not to grant any visa to UN fact-finding mission members.”

According to the Myanmar report denying human rights violations against Rohingya, there is no any evidence of crimes against humanity. But why Myanmar government doesn’t allow UN fact finding mission to investigate the cases fairly? It means there are evidences in abundance that can be used to prove the hidden crimes and the criminals.

Now it’s a countdown time for suffering Rohingyas and international bodies, whom are waiting eagerly for the latest report from the commission led by former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan, which is due to release their final report detailing its recommendations for Arakan (Rakhine) State this month, but it does not have the mandate to investigate human rights abuses.

Rakhine commission’s report and bias statement do not surprise the Rohingyas and the international community, as since the start of the Genocide Burmese Government has been lying and portraying to the international community.

Although Burma tries to hide Genocide against Rohingya with such unethical moves in the era of the easiest communication and the advance technology, media like RVision struggles to reveal the true stories with evidences and testimonies which cannot be denied at any cost. The evidences exuded here prove the existence of Genocide against Arakanese Rohingyas and help the international community to judge Myanmar government, so-called Perpetrator of ethnic genocide whom is needed to be brought to justice soon.
