Sittwe (Akyab), Arakan– An 83-year-old Rohingya man, likely to be suffering from acute urinary retention, passed away in Sittwe IDP camps at around 7PM on 17th April 2014. There was no doctor available at the IDP camps to treat his disease before he died.

“U Mohammed Shafie (Age 83), from IDP camps in the village of Chan Thar Gone of Sethama (Shisha Fara) village tract, was likely to be suffering acute urinary rentention. He was unable to urinate. He was shouting out of pain. And there was/is no doctor at the IDP Camps to treat his disease. No health workers! No medicines! Unfortunately, he passed away at around 7PM today (i.e. on 17th January 2014)” said an internally displaced Rohingya.

“And we dare not send anyone to Sittwe General Hospital because the hospital authority kill Rohingya patients brutally instead of treating them” he added.
