Sittwe (Akyab) – A teenage Rohingya boy living at ‘Pin Lay Pyin’ IDP camps in Sittwe (Akayb) Township died from the lack of food and nutrition around 2:00PM on Sunday (i.e. March 20, 2016).
The boy is identified to be 11-year-old boy named Abdul Manaf (son of) U Abdu Jalil and Daw Hazara Khatun.
“The family, originally from Nget Chaung village in Pauktaw Towship, have been living the ‘Pin Lay Pyin’ IDP camps without proper shelter and any rations or aids for two and half years now. The deceased boy is the third person in the family that died due to starvation.
Two people from the family died earlier as well. Hence, the family has only four members left out of seven members. The family is currently surviving on just eating potatoes,” said a Rohingya in Pauktaw
There are more than 8640 internally displaced people living the camps. They are not receiving any aids from any quarter but surviving on some little donations from the locals.
They are urgently in need of humanitarian aids and international attentions.
