Demonstrations Continued for 3rd Day at Rohingya Camps

Cox’s Bazaar: Rohingya continued demonstrations for the 3rd day at several makeshift camps of Cox’sBazaar area, demanding to restore their rights on 3rd July 2018, reports sources from several camps.

Several demonstrations took place at various camps like Alikhali, Leda, Dundumma and Shalbagan area of Zadimura.

These demonstrations were organized by a Rohingya organization named “Voice of Rohingya”, who earlier organized demonstrations at kutupalong and Balukhali camp on 2nd July, 2018.

In all the demostrations, Rohingya expressed their concern about the recent MoU, that was signed between UNHCR and UNDP with Burmese government.

“The entire MoU did not mention the name Rohingya even for once, so how can we return following this baseless agreement”, shouted a community leader at demostration in Leda camp.

In all the demonstrations, Rohingya demanded 5 demands, including restoring their citizenship right with native status before their repatriation to Arakan (Rakhine) state.

Earlier on 2nd July two Rohingya organizations named Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights (ARSPH)  and Voice of Rohingya (VOR) also held demonstrations at Kutupalong  and Balukhali 2 camp, demanding similar demands.
