Akkyab: Camp supervisor along with the support of government support have ceased rations of thousands of Rohingyas in the concentrated camp, leaving helpless Rohingyas to starve.
In the incidence camp supervisors extorted money from innocent Rohingyas, who were helpless outside the camp in hope of receiving rations regularly. Later unaware of the the fake promises those innocent people followed to the camp.
Camp supervisors along with government support extorted 30, 000 – 50, 000 kyats per family to get them entry to the camp and to get ration regularly.
Earlier they were provided with a sack of rice/family which they ceased since the last cyclone, where authorities informed villagers with a discriminatory statement that “We need to provide rations to the Bhuddhist instead of you kalars” says a suffering local.
Moreover “In this camp insufficient food had caused verities of malnutrition diseases, where 1-2 death is reported daily due to lack of health facilities as well” says another local on the condition of anonymity.
Say Tha Mi Gyi concentrated camp is a home to 12,140 Arakanese Rohingyas whom are deprived of all basic Human Rights and are left for starving in the edge of a port area.
Due to intolerable situation they informed all the local and international NGOs like UNHCR, WFP, etc, but up till now no response have been received yet.
Starving to death is common genocidal tool in Arakan since the military rule. Although no hope is expected from the government, they still urge and look forward to international NGOs to let them stay alive.
