Burmese Police Dragged Rohingya in Torments to Extort Money

Buthidaung: A Burmese police tormented Rohingya villagers of Buthidaung Township to extort heavy amount of money and uses the creation of fake case as a threat, reports sufferers on 22nd September 2018.

A Police named Aung Thi Ha in ward two of Buthidaung extorted 230, 000 Kyats from a Rohingya residing in the same ward.

The victim was identified to be Mohammed Salim S/O Bashir, who was threatened with fear of arrest by a fabricated case to extort the heavy sum.

According to locals, he keeps an eye in the area and targets the Rohingya with different false allegations to fulfill his lust for money.

Besides, the traveling Rohingya using the Ywa Ma road are usually tortured by him as he keeps patrolling on the same road.

Villagers informed that he even tortures the pedestrians and fearlessly conduct his crimes as Burmese forces are set free by the gov’t itself.

His activities created a fearful environment in the area and locals are hardly seen outside of their homes. And villagers explained how they decide to go out only for work or in an emergency.

Burmese forces made lives of the remaining Rohingya so dangerous and now they think twice to step out of their homes in their own land.
