Sittwe (Akyab) – A Burmese (Myanmar) military staff severely beat a Rohingya Rickshaw-puller on his (the victim’s) head with the gun in Sittwe (Akyab) yesterday morning, causing the victim to heavy bleeding and severe injuries.
The sources have reported that the man identified as Mohammed Salim, 38, hails from ‘Anauk Sanpya’ village was pulling his rickshaw on the main road of ‘Thae Chaung’ village, when the military staff stopped him and whacked him on his head with his (the army staff’s) gun.
Besides, the military staff seized his rickshaw along with three other rickshaws that also belong to the local Rohingyas.
The army staff is serving under the Battalion 267 based in ‘Thae Chaung’ village in ‘Bumany’ village tract. The military at the battalion are notorious for being very cruel to the poor and segregated Rohingyas who have been the victims of a state-sponsored violence since June 2012.
