Burmese Immigration Maintained Enforcing NVC on Rohingya

Akyab: Immigration department illegally enforced National Verification Card (NVC) on Rohingyas in Akyab Township on 7th January 2018, reports a local.

A team of Immigration department arrived in the quarter of Aung Ming Lar and held a meeting with the locals to accept the illegal National Verification Card (NVC) in the area.

The meeting was held at the house of a Kaman Muslim known as Sing Hla, where their whole team stressed over the topic and showed threats of not accepting the National Verification Card (NVC).

Following the situation locals are left in complete stressful situation as all their little remaining livelihood have been ceased in all Internally Displaced Peoples Camp (IDPs). In addition every governmental authorities are forcing the native Rohingyas to add them to the list of NVC holders.

National Verification Card (NVC) is issued to a foreigner for verification while he/she is applying for citizenship in Burma (Myanmar). And forcing these to the native Rohingyas will make them officially stateless in their own ancestral land.
