By RVision Correspondent
Minbyaa, Arakan (Rohingya Vision) – A Rakhine Buddhist monk has (illegally) appropriated and tilting a Rohingya’s farm land in Minbya Township recently, according to the reliable sources.
The farm land is approximately 0.8 Acres in size and it belongs to a Rohingya man hails from ‘Thayet Oak’ hamlet of Nagara village tract. The land has been illegally occupied by a Rakhine monk in the village calling it belongs to his mother.
“U Liyakaut Ali @U Maung Hla Paing is a local of Thayet Oak’ hamlet of Nagara village tract, Minbya Township. His farmland no. 906-B (ဦးေမာင္လွပုိင္လယ္ေျမကြင္းအမွတ္ ၉၀၆-ခ) at Nagara Forest Farmland No. 32/4 (နဂရာေတာင္ကြင္းဦးပုိင္အမွတ္(၃၂/၄)), 0.8 Acre in size, was illegally occupied by a Monk named ‘U Nga Khoung Chay’ from ‘Hla Pa Goung’ monastery in Nagara village. Calling the land belong to his mother, he has started tilting the land illegally.
Therefore, when the owner of the land, U Liakaut Ali, complained to the village’s farmland (agricultural land) committee, the committee chairman, U Kyaw Mya Than, responded saying that he will be unable to help to solve the problem. And the Rohingya man is unable to get access to the higher authority, Township’s Farmland Committee, to get justice and to have his land back.
Now, he is almost to lose out his land to the illegal occupier monk” said a local in Minbyaa village on the condition of anonymity.
“If the authority just keeps on watching without taking any actions, the Rakhines and the monks will gradually appropriate all Rohingyas’ lands. We want to let the world know how these Rakhine extremists and the selfish monks are illegally occupying our lands” he continued.
