Maungdaw, Arakan State (Rohingya Vision) – A Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) Corporal, under the influence of drugs, attempted to shoot his senior officer in northern Maungdaw last Thursday.
The incident happened at the BGP station in ‘Kyeing Chaung (Boli Bazaar)’ village when the police corporal named U Khin Hlaing has been reported to have quarrelled with his subordinates at the camp after taking WY (Yaba Tablets). And when his senior officer, second lieutenant and temporary station commander, tried to stop him from quarrelling, he attempted to shoot at him with his gun.
Fortunately, as other police staffs in the s came together and were able to prevent him from attempting to kill his senior. And hence, the senior officer escaped from a life-threatening situation, according to an internal police source reporting the incident anonymously.
Afterwards, the police corporal addicted with drugs were handcuffed and taken to the hospital to check up his blood and urine. The check-up showed that he consumed drugs, the source added.
He was taken back to the police station and detained there in the cell.
It has been learnt that the ‘Commander of the Police Station’ has gone to Capital Yangon to attend a training course.
“The corporal Khin Hlaing that attempted to kill his senior and other police staffs in the camp such as Zaw Zaw Aung, Aung Kyaw Min are the trusted henchmen of the ‘Station Commander.’ They behave like robbers rob local Rohingyas and extort money from them and give a big-share to the Station Commander,” said a local Rohingya in Maungdaw.
