Authorities Repeatedly Extorted Money on different False cases in Maungdaw
AUTHORITIES FROM DIFFERENT DEPARTMENT IN COLLABORATION WITH THE VILLAGE HEAD REPEATEDLY EXTORTED MONEY FROM A FATHER OF DROWNED CHILD AND A HELPLESS PREGNANT WOMAN ON FABRICATED CASES.

MAUNGDAW: Authorities in Maungdaw repeatedly extorted money from a father of a drowned child in Hasshurata, Maungdaw on 12th August 2016, where another woman of the same village was also victimized by authorities on another clueless case, according to a local.
In early August victim named to be Abu Alam’s Son died due to drowning, when authorities were heard about the accidental incident, they extorted 8 lakh kyats from him illegally.
Following the same incidence authorities case again demanded 2 lakh Kyats from him by accusing him of informing the incident to the Medias yesterday, according to a local villager.
Later due to threat and fear of detention Abu Alam had to pay 1 lakh Kyats to the brutal authorities. Now he is great despair, where he had to bear debt even at a time when his family is mourning for their dead son.
In another incident of the same village, village head with collaboration of authorities victimized another poor pregnant women by accusing her of marrying illegally.
In reality at the time old village head she got the permission approval, but the newly elected village head is using it as a tool for his income, where he demanded 3 lakh kyats and threatened her to be detained.
Moreover to safeguard her husband and herself during pregnancy she had to pay the demanded amount. The victim is identified to Juleha, 20 wife of Abdu Salam known to be a maid who works daily from home to home for survival.
Extortion of money by different Government authorities is common in Arakan, where notorious village head are also given immune and elected illegally for Daily persecution schedule.
Worsening situation has reached its peak, where every genocidal tool are performed regularly on the Arakanese Rohingya People to wipe them out of their ancestral land “Arakan”.
