Sittwe (Akyab), Arakan: Three Rohingyas in Pyali Chaung of Khadin Paik village tract got severe injuries as their trishaw was violently hit by a lorry at around 4:00PM on June 8, 2014. However, they were compensated and their condition is said to have improved.
“U Noor Uddin (son of) Rashid Ahmed (of Age 40) is a local Rohingya of the village of Pyali-Chaung of Kaddin-Paik village tract in Sittwe (Akyab) Township. His three-year-old daughter, Noor Aisha, fell sick. Therefore, around 4:00PM on 8th June 2014, he together with his daughter arrived at nearby Rakhine village called Thin-Pun-Dan by a trishaw for treatment at a clinic run by a nurse named Daw Khin Ma Oo in the Rakhine village.
When they were about to get off from the trishaw, the trishaw was hit from behind by a 14-feet-long lorry being driven by a Rakhine. The lorry belongs to Shwe Pyay Thit Company in Sittwe.
U Noor Uddin flew away and hit a lamp post by the road with his head as their trishaw was hit violently by the lorry. The trishaw puller, Abdu Jalil (son of) Idiris (of Age 23), also received severe injuries in a thigh of his. Similarly, the child (the daughter of U Noor Uddin) also injured” said a Rohingya that witnessed the incident.
“We don’t know whether the accident was deliberate or unintentional. However, the case was heard to have later been solved in Ye-Chan-Pyin Police station. The lorry company compensated Kyat Kyat 450,000 to the victims, Kyat 30,000 to Police and Kyat 20,000 to Mohammed Kasim, administrator of Kadin Paik. It has been heard that the situation of the victims have improved and nothing to be worried about” he added.
