A Rohingya Killed in Buthidaung after Being Hit by Gov’t Owned Lorry

Buthidaung, Arakan (Rohingya Vision) — An innocent Rohingya teenager was killed in Buthidaung Township last Monday as he was hit by a lorry owned by Myanmar’s Public Construction Ministry, locals said.
The lorry being recklessly driven by a Rakhine Buddhist known to be an extremist hit the teenager (now deceased) identified to be Amir Hussein (son of) Shah Alam, 18, hails from Dudan hamlet of Parung Chaung village in the early of the day.
It has been learnt that Amir Hussein a teenager belongs to a poor family. He helps his family to make their daily ends meet by selling firewood in markets.
“A Rakhine Buddhist extremist was driving a lorry recklessly around 7:00AM on February 16. Soon after, the lorry hit a teenager walking along the platform of a road on his way to a nearby forest for gathering firewood. The lorry belongs to the Myanmar’s Public Construction Ministry. The vehicle plate number is MDY 71.9155.
As soon as the lorry hit the teenager, he died instantly due to severe injuries and heavy bleeding. Subsequently, the reckless Rakhine lorry driver was held by the villagers of Parung Chaung for the legal actions and prosecutions. However, the administrator of Parung Chaung village freed the driver guilty for the crime without taking any actions” said an eyewitness asking not to be named.
“The administrator sent the dead body for the deceased teenager to the hospital for postmortem. No action has been taken. It is like anyone can kill our Rohingya people impunity” he continued.
