Buthidaung, Arakan (Rohingya Vision) – A Myanmar policeman shot his senior police officer to death in Buthidaung Township yesterday morning, according to the reliable sources.
It has been learnt that the senior officer, Captain Htin Hla, the in-charge of the Buthidaung Police Station, and his subordinate and junior policeman had had quarrels before the incident took place.
The quarrel reportedly originated from the heated arguments between them over the uneven and unequal distribution of the shares of the money extorted from the local Rohingyas.
“Captain Htin Hla and his subordinate officer had a quarrel at a Rakhine man-owned tea-shop nearby the Buthidaung Township (Judicial) Court over the money extorted from the local Rohingyas. The captain started severely beating the junior officer. Subsequently, the junior policeman started shooting at the senior officer seemingly due to inability to bear up the beatings anymore.
And the police captain died on the way to the hospital. It was around 8:00AM on March 4” said an eye-witness of the incident.
“And the junior officer that shot his senior surrendered himself at the police station. He is under detention in the police station. According to the reports, no cases have been charged against him yet.
Both police officers are ethnically Rakhines” he added.
