Maungdaw: 2 more innocent Rohingya youths arrested and tortured to half dead in a village of Maungdaw by security forces on 4th January 2018, report sources.
At early morning in a village known as Akherifara of Balukhali (They Chaung) a group of 6-7 Rohingya youth were cooking some meal for their breakfast. Later their cooking flames were seen by a bunch of security forces whom were passing by.
Following the flame they reached the house and seeing them most of the youths fled to safeguard themselves from usual tortures of the authorities. Unfortunately 2 of the youths could not manage to escape and were arrested by the security forces whom immediately accused them as members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA).
By torturing them all the way they both were taken to the main village area and asked their identification from other villagers, whom identified them and confirmed them to be common Rohingya belonging to the village. But security forces forcefully denied and continued their massive physical tortures and made them to half dead condition.
“I don’t think these youths will survive until they reach the Maungdaw detention as they are in critical health condition because of the inhumane tortures of the military” explains an elderly eye witness.
Both the victims were identified to be Karim S/O Abu hayat, 28 and Shofi Alam S/O Builla. Finally they were taken to Tongbru Sub-Township and then to Maungdaw detention where their fate is still unknown.
Arresting or killing of Rohingya youths and labeling them as a member of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) became a very valid excuse for the Burmese brutal regime to hide their crimes against humanity.
